Hotfix 1.0.4 Patch Notes: Save Bug, Blocking and Quest Fixes
If the game refused to save, or your guard stopped answering in the middle of a fight, update before your next session. Hotfix 1.0.4, released September 9, 2026, is the largest patch since launch: a save blocker, a combat bug, nine quest fixes and a controller performance problem on Steam.
The fixes most players will notice
- Saving. Fixed an issue that could stop you from saving the game.
- Blocking. Fixed a bug that disabled blocking under certain circumstances. If attacks seemed to pass straight through your guard, this was the likely cause. Once blocking behaves, our combat guide covers directional parries and Perfect Blocks.
- Controllers. Connecting a controller while running outdated GameInput software no longer causes FPS drops.
- Stability. Multiple improvements to overall stability.
Quest fixes
- Deep Down: Coen no longer gets stuck in the cave.
- Hive and Seek: one of the possible solutions no longer ends the quest early.
- On the Run: progressing the quest no longer causes infinite loading.
- The Heart Wants What It Wants: a progression blocker is fixed.
- Smoke and Ashes: investigating the rag is now optional.
- A Lone Wolf’s Hunt: the quest now shows its difficulty level correctly.
- Following Sara no longer soft-locks the game.
- Murohn now spawns reliably.
- Ocha no longer turns on Coen when guards attack her.
Gameplay and world
- Using Voracious Bite too quickly no longer blocks the tutorial.
- Coen can no longer get trapped inside certain houses.
- Crake can now talk to Coen during his training sequence.
- Dead NPCs no longer start conversations.
- Torches no longer grow uncontrollably.
- Coen and Iorgu now drink from their cups even on low graphics settings.
- Music no longer cuts out during the prologue.
PC fixes
- Quality preset mods now apply properly. Our mods guide lists the ones worth installing.
- VSync now works correctly with FSR Frame Generation. The PC settings guide covers frame generation and upscaling.
