The Blood of Dawnwalker Mods

The mod scene went straight for the two things players argue about most: the 30-day clock and the 30 FPS cutscene cap. Here are the mods that actually get downloaded, what each one changes, and exactly where the files belong.

The Mods People Actually Install

Figures come from each mod's own Nexus page, checked on 8 September 2026.

ModAuthorWhat it changes
Better Story TimerCaitesRaises the main quest from 30 days to 90, applied retroactively. Optional modules remove the time cost of skills and lift each half-day from 8 segments to 16 or 32. Around 138,000 downloads, far ahead of everything else.
Uncapped Cutscenes and Menu FPSbrittneymaybeLifts the 30 FPS cap in cutscenes and menus, with optional vignette removal. Version 1.6 also unlocks character and face animation, which needs UE4SS.
Natural Image FixL3X4RSCuts the aggressive default sharpening without touching textures, colours, contrast or LOD.
Better ShadowstepCaitesPushes the Shadow Dweller upgrades from 11m and 14.5m to 19m and 27m, and drops their Corruption cost.

Where the Files Go

Two shapes cover almost everything on Nexus, and both are manual copies.

  • Config mods ship a Game.ini. Copy it into %LOCALAPPDATA%\Dawnwalker\Saved\Config\Windows and leave it read-only.
  • Content mods ship pak, utoc and ucas files. Drop those into ...\steamapps\common\The Blood of Dawnwalker\Dawnwalker\Content\Paks\~mods, creating the ~mods folder if it is not there yet.
  • Some mods need UE4SS for Dawnwalker installed first. The mod page says so when it does.
  • Uninstalling means deleting what you copied. There is nothing else to unwind.

Before You Install

  • Mods run on the PC build only. There is no console equivalent.
  • Better Story Timer's author reports it does not break achievements and works on non-Steam installs, where only the path differs.
  • Check which game version a mod targets. The headline mods were updated for Hotfix 1.0.3.
  • The timer mod belongs in the main game while the clock is visible; its author suggests removing it for the epilogue.
