Mad Khan Boss Fight & Narrative Choices

Bakir, the Mad Khan: Boss Fight & Choices Guide

Bakir, the Mad Khan, is one of the three Court Vampires serving Lord Brencis in Vale Sangora. Presiding over the subterranean Luna Tournament where captives are forced into bloody gladiatorial trials, confronting Bakir involves banquet interrogation, vault negotiations, and critical post-battle choices between execution, soul absorption, or permanent banishment.

Background: The Luna Tournament & Servant Farcas

Investigating the subterranean fortress ruins leads Coen to Farcas, Bakir's captive servant secretly plotting against his master. Bakir forces captives and desperate warriors to slaughter each other in the labyrinth to retrieve his gold coin for a seat at his feast. Farcas supplies Coen with a carved wooden mask to blend into the tournament, seeking to rescue his imprisoned brother Dusan and recover a powerful arcane amethyst ring.

The Banquet Interrogation & Mask Parley

Admitted to the feast, Bakir demands that Coen surrender his weapon and remove his wooden mask. Refusing to surrender either weapon or mask raises mild suspicion, but Farcas steps in to preserve Coen's cover. Bakir then serves wine smelling heavily of blood and interrogates Coen regarding rumors of an assassination scheme (asking whether Coen would kill him via duel, dismemberment, or impalement).

  • Keeping Weapon & Mask: Retains readiness for battle without aborting the dialogue tree.
  • Answering the Murder Query: Choosing impalement earns praise for bravery; choosing duel prompts Bakir to mock Ambrus's aristocratic dueling traditions.
  • Vault Confrontation: Declaring 'I just want to rip out your black filthy heart' at the vault entrance triggers the boss duel immediately.

Boss Strategy: Defeating Bakir, the Mad Khan

Bakir merges aggressive nomadic steppe swordsmanship with feral vampiric frenzy, applying intense forward pressure and rapid multi-hit flurries. Silver armaments and flame-coated oils significantly increase stagger damage against his armor.

  • Whirlwind Claw Flurry: Bakir's claws glow crimson as he rushes forward with rapid slashes. Dodge diagonally backward rather than blocking every blow, or parry the opening strike to disrupt his combo.
  • Leaping Overhead Smash: Bakir crouches low and leaps into the air before crashing down. Dodge sideways at the apex of his descent; he suffers a 1.5-second recovery window on landing for heavy punishes.
  • Crimson Blood Spit: A swift close-range head recoil spraying acidic blood projectiles. Strafe with raised shield to avoid bleed accumulation.
  • Summoning Arena Curs: Below 50% health, Bakir summons arena thralls. Use wide sweeping skills like Broadswing or Artery Strike to clear adds quickly without losing track of Bakir.
