Play the clock, not the checklist

Beginner Guide

Coen is two characters sharing one body. Day is steel, towns, and talking. Night is blood, movement, and heat. Quests spend time. You will not save everyone in one run.

Learn the two bodies first

  • By day, fight as a human: blades, guard, alchemy, and safer travel through settlements.
  • By night, fight as a vampire: claws, supernatural movement, stealth, and feeding. People who tolerated you at noon will not at midnight.

Treat time as a resource

Main and side jobs push the in-world clock. If a quest looks optional, ask what you are spending the hours on. The design is built so one playthrough leaves unfinished business. That is not a bug in the wiki; it is the loop.

First-session order

  1. Confirm your platform and SSD space before you sit down.
  2. Finish the opening until both forms have been used in combat.
  3. When the first branching job appears, pick a family or settlement goal and stick to it. Split attention burns days.
  4. Do not hunt every map marker on night one. Vale Sangora is 14th-century villages, forests, swamps, forts, and vampire ruins. The clock is the real map.

Ability names and exact hour costs stay off this page until they can be checked in-game. If a guide lists Shadowstep trees or a 50-hour campaign length before launch, treat it as rumor.
